Fast Casual Interview with Terri Furman, Anchor for Channel 13, KLBK of Lubbock, TX. Great conversation about becoming a news anchor, working in the news, and giving back. Awesome to see a true heart to serve, inform and make a difference. Highlights - Best thing about being a news anchor is being able to keep people informed about their community. - Toughest part is being away from the family. Just believes in what she is doing and cares so much about the community that one misses some time with the family. - The internet has caused her to be engaged on all the platforms to keep everyone informed, It is more work than ever before but reaching a broader audience. - Because of being in the public eye she gets to be involved in many causes: Casa Lubbock, Special Olympics, Susan G. Koman, Literacy Lubbock, LIFE/RUN, etc... Problems are right here and we don't have to go somewhere else, let's solve our problems right here. - To get started in the news: Get a college degree in communications, need to be outgoing, humble, work 12 to 14 hour days, take criticism, willing to learn and be critiqued. Shadow someone or do an internship with a station. - Final words: I may not pass this way again! Make it mean something. #fastcasuallife #hardwork #MAD #givingback
